Vehicle Description The Jeep CJ models are a series of open bodied off-road vehicles built and sold by several successive incarnations from 1945 to 1986.
In fact, the 1945 model was the world's first mass produced 4 wheel drive vehicle for civilian use.
As a result the CJ stands for Civilian Jeep.
The Willys CJ-5 was influenced by the corporate owner (Kaiser) as well as the M38A1 Jeep used in the Korean War.
